Recent archaeological excavations and evidences have provided some breathtaking facts exactly as described in the Holy Quran and the Bible. Following an archaeological excavation in South East Saudi Arabia, the skeletons of Ad people from the time of prophet Hud (SAW) are discovered.
Recent gas exploration activity in the south east region of the Arabian desert uncovered the skeletal remains of a human of phenomenal size. This region of the Arabian Desert is called the Empty Quarter, or in Arabic, ‘Rab-Ul-Khalee’ (see note). The discovery was made by the Aramco Exploration team. Allah states in the Quran that He had created people of phenomenal size the like of which He has not created since. These were the people of Ad where Prophet Hud (SAW) was sent. They were very tall, big, and very powerful, such that they could put their arms around a tree trunk and uproot it. Later these people, who were given all the power, turned against Allah and the Prophet and transgressed beyond all boundaries set by Allah. As a result they were destroyed.
Note: Rab-ul-khalee is also mentioned in the Holy Quran as Iram.
Sura 89 (Fajr), ayats 6-7: Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the Ad of the City of Iram with lofty pillars, the like of which were not produced in all the lands?
Sura 69 (Haqqa or The Sure Reality), ayats 5-8: And the Ad, – they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; He (Allah) made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession; So that thou could see the people lying in its (path), as if they had been roots of hollow palm trees tumbled down! Then seest thou any of them left surviving?
It is beleived that prophet Hud (SAW) lived for 150 years among his people. The timeline of the the Ad, the people of Hud, is about 4500 years ago (2500 BC) or put it another way, nearly 500 years before prophet Abraham (SAW).
Today, our civilization is guilty of all the sins that all past people have committed at one time or the other. They were destroyed for one sin. We’re enjoying in the floodgates that God has poured open for us and in the midst of it when He will pull the rope then nothing except our good deeds will save us from His wrath.
As per His promise, Allah is showing our civilization (towards its very end), the signs of the peoples of the past who were destroyed for their sins. These signs are meant not for historical information but as warnings. As per His Word, we’ve seen Pharoah’s body, prophet Nuh’s ark that rested on Mount Judi, the remains of the Ad people, the remains of Babylon and of prophet Lut (Sodom & Gomorrah) Can we now deny the Creator and that the Holy Quran are His sacred Words?
